uppercase

i attended the one of a kind show: vancouver this weekend. {thanksgiving weekend} and found some pretty amazing artisans.

from Uppercase i bought two books and their most recent magazine.

these folks do some pretty incredible work. often i'll find myself bored flipping through a book of creativity that is trying to please to many demographics at once, but this is not the case today. perhaps i am in love with collage {and i am just realizing it now} because uppercase keeps me flipping. based out of Calgary they feature only Canadian artists {mostly illustrators, photographers and designers}, which in turn, is nothing like Canadian Art magazine, the subscription i can't wait to finish. i understand that the only similarities between the two magazines uppercase and canadian art are the canadian artist features and beyond that, they are as different as popsicles and revels, but it seems like canada has been deemed a boring country. with its snow igloos, plaid shirts, maple syrup, and log cabins i'd hate to see outsiders judge our art in the same respect. this, my friends is one good reason why i enjoy uppercase so much. they are damn entertaining.
